THE MISSION

"Once upon a time, there was a car that had some huge problems. Nobody knew what to do or what to expect. We are going to examine the car and try to fix the problems. When the car arrives at your garage, it may seem like there is nothing much going on, but during your diagnosis, there may be more to it than meets the eye. Our goal is to solve every problem so that the car can drive safely again."

The first problem with your headlights is fixed. Both your headlights work perfectly. But now all cars sign with their headlights when they see you. What could be the problem?

a sensor has detected that your brake pads are too thin

No warning light this time, but a problem with driving your car around a corner. It starts drifting the minute you try this. What could be the problem?

Look at your tire,if you can see the wear indicator you are good to go.

Use a coin, if the tread comes halfway a one euro coin it is still sufficient

Use a tire tread depth gauge and make sure the tread depth is 1,6 mm or more

You've discovered it is probably the tread depth. The minimum tread depth in the Netherlands is 1,6 mm. How can you measure this?

You've seen a lot of malfunctions in a BMW, but this is a very strange one. Your rear light (back light) on the left works just fine, unless you drive your car very fast. Then it starts flickering. What could be the problem?

Check for loose connections and repair them

Shake the wiring harness till it works again

Cut open the wiring harness and repair the failing wire

The right thing to check was the wiring harness. and It looks like there was a break in the cable. What is the best way to solve this problem?

One final problem has appeared. Something you seldom see with BMW: oil leakage.... A few drops under the engine, probably caused by a degraded gasket."Which gasket could this be coming from?"

The valve gasket seems to be the cause of the oil leak. You will have to replace it. Not an easy job, but definately doable.You will need some tools though. What would be useful?

Disconnect the battery to restart the engine management system

Put in a used engine, this one is beyond repair

You almost made it, but ofcourse something else comes up. We believe it to be the final problem! There is a problem with the engine management, fuel injection and ignition system. This can only mean one thing.
