CYBERBULLING AND HARRASMENT

The actions can involve verbal harassment, physical assaults, persecutions, generally carried out in a school environment. Today, technology allows bullies to materialize at any moment, persecuting victims with offensive messages, images, and videos sent via smartphones or posted on websites and social networks.

Cyberbullying is the online manifestation of a broader phenomenon better known as bullying. The latter is characterized by violent and intimidating actions carried out by a bully, or a group of bullies, on a victim.

WHAT IS CYBER BULLING

Report When witnessing an act of cyberbullying – whether you are the victim or just a bystander – it is important to immediately report it to the appropriate authorities and preserve evidence of what you have seen.

Think Before You Post One must never forget that the Internet is a public place and everyone can access any type of content that is posted online.

Online Safety Browsing the Internet safely is the first thing to do if you want to avoid falling into the clutches of a cyberbully.

HOW TO DEFEAT CYBERBULLYING

One day, after receiving yet another offensive message, I decided to talk to my parents about it. They immediately supported me and we contacted the school and the police. Thanks to the evidence I had kept, we were able to identify the culprits. The school took disciplinary action and the police launched an investigation.

My name is Marco and I'm 15 years old. Until a few months ago, I was a happy and carefree boy who loved playing soccer and hanging out with friends. Everything changed when I started receiving offensive messages on social media. It all started when a classmate posted an embarrassing photo of me on Instagram. At first, I thought it was just a tasteless joke, but then the comments started pouring in. Every day, I received private messages full of insults and threats. They called me horrible names and told me I was worthless.

TESTIMONY OF CYBERBULLYING

The technology offers wonderful opportunities for connection and expression, but with them also comes the responsibility to use these tools in a respectful and compassionate manner. Cyberbullying reminds us that behind every screen there is a person, with feelings and dignity. Practicing online kindness and intervening against virtual bullying is a commitment that we can all take on to create a safer and more inclusive digital world.

My name is Sofia and I'm 17 years old. It all started when I began receiving strange messages on Instagram from an account I didn't know. At first, I thought it was just one of the many random followers, but then the messages became increasingly unsettling. They said things like "I'm watching you" and "I know where you live." They sent me a photo of my own house with the caption "I'm waiting for you outside." I tried blocking the account, but they kept creating new profiles to send me messages.I didn't know what to do or who to turn to for help. I finally decided to talk to my parents, and we contacted the police. They launched an investigation, but in the meantime, I had to change my online and offline habits to feel safe. It prevented me from fully enjoying my everyday life and caused me a great deal of emotional stress.

testimony of online harrasment

Online harassment represents a serious violation of human dignity and fundamental digital rights. It is imperative to recognize that behind every screen there is a person, and treating others with respect and kindness is essential for civil coexistence online. Combating online harassment requires a collective commitment to promote awareness, educate on good digital practices, and work together to create safe, inclusive, and respectful online communities. Only through collaboration and solidarity can we effectively counteract this phenomenon and protect the mental health and well-being of all individuals in our digital society.
