story
1905 Hans Wilsdorf
The history of Rolex is inextricably linked to the pioneering spirit of its founder, Hans Wilsdorf. In 1905, at just 24 years old, Wilsdorf created a company in London specializing in the marketing of watches. Thus he began to imagine a timepiece that could be worn on the wrist. At the time, wristwatches did not guarantee very accurate precision, but Hans Wilsdorf managed to give them elegance and reliability. And to convince the public that such innovative timepieces were also reliable, he equipped them with small but extremely precise movements produced by a watchmaking company in the Swiss city of Bienne.

Thanks to this initiative, Rolex has guaranteed from the beginning the possibility of subjecting all the watches released from its laboratories to the best possible maintenance, to preserve their extraordinary performance over time. Watches bearing the crown symbol can thus fully fulfill their functions without time constraints, be passed on from one generation to the next and live more than one life.Hans Wilsdorf conveyed to the Brand the perpetual search for excellence that characterizes it. Since its origins, the founder of Rolex has established a network of watchmaking workshops throughout the world. Their mission is to ensure that all of the brand's watches can be maintained in the best way. Watches bearing the crown symbol can thus fully fulfill their functions without time constraints, be passed on from one generation to the next and live more than one life. Any authorized Rolex retailer or branch can take care of your Rolex watch for maintenance. There is nothing ordinary about Rolex watches. They are designed to work perfectly today, tomorrow and always. Hans Wilsdorf, the visionary founder of Rolex, was able to grasp the success that the wristwatch was destined to have since the first half of the 20th century, with his usual time ahead of his time. Convinced of the need to offer his customers only reliable and long-lasting watches, he wants each example to be a "testament of quality". Consequently, the entrepreneur does not limit himself to designing and manufacturing his watches with great care, but also decides to integrate an effective after-sales service into his approach, present in all the countries where the brand is distributed.
In our pursuit of excellence, we strive daily to improve not only our watches, but also our environmental performance and our impact on society. The long-term vision is at the heart of our philosophy and our activities. Our founding values, namely the passion for quality and innovation and the pursuit of excellence, are based on the concept of perpetuity which defines all our missions and guides all of our activities. The watches we make have always been at the service of the exploits of men and women; today these achievements are part of sustainable development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the possibility that future generations will be able to satisfy their own needs. In our daily actions we make our contribution to this collective and indispensable effort. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a global framework to guide action towards sustainable economic, social and environmental development worldwide. To make our contribution to the SDGs and improve our social and environmental performance, we have surveyed our existing measures and identified areas for improvement. This work also supports our strategic thinking regarding the development of our sustainability policy.
