Mayans empire

Characteristics

The Mayan civilisation was older. When the conquerors arrived, this civilisation was in decline. Its territories were organised in city-states and confederations. Its main economic activities were agriculture and trade. The Mayans had their own systems of writing and mathematics, and also had a 365-day calendar.

The fall of the Aztec's empire

Hernan Cortes' plan and what did he conquer:

He conquered the city of Tenochtitlán, and he put finish to the strong empire of the Azteca's, in 1521. Moctezuma let the Spanish soldiers enter. When the Spanish soldiers were in the city, Hernan Cortes kidnapped Moctezuma. They take the main parts of the empire and wiht that the empire collapse.

Characteristics of the Aztec's

The imposed taxes to their inhabitans and strict military control. They had an advanced society with an economy based on well-developed agriculture and prosperous trade.

In 1527 Francisco Pizarro and his men landed in Peru. They arrived at the mouth of the Santa River. In 1532, when Peru was suffering a crisis, Francisco attacked from the north. In these attacks he was helped by Diego de Almagro and Hernando de Luque. In 1533 he arrived in Cusco, and was received as a god. When their intentions were discovered in 1536, a war began. Francis won it thanks to some tribes that helped him
