Population
It is estimated that the hawksbill turtle population has declined by 80% in the last century. It is not known exactly how many there are, but it is known that more than 40,000 are killed each year.
Height and weight
The hawksbill turtle is the largest sea turtle, measuring 55 cm to 2.2 m. This species can weigh between 35 and 150 kg.
Threats
The main threats to the life of the hawksbill turtle are illegal hunting for consumption and also due to its shell, accidental capture during fishing with nets, coastal development disturbing the lives of these animals and their reproduction as these beings they lay their eggs on beaches.

The hawksbill turtle have been disappearing mainly because of pollution.

It is found in tropical and subtropical seas, its natural habitat is coral reefs and shallow coastal waters, such as estuaries and lagoons. It can also occasionally be found in deep waters. The species has a worldwide distribution, with Atlantic and Pacific subspecies.
Average life expectancy is 30 to 50 years.

The carapace of the hawksbill turtle is yellowish-brown in color and is made up of four lateral plates, arranged in the form of tiles. In the past, its carapace was used to make combs, hence its name.
