Methods of producing electricity

The most way to produce electricity is though electromagnatism using a generator.

Start

There are another methods to produce elecrticity using from other things

Biomass

Wind power

Solar and photovoltaic cells

Geothermal energy

Water power

Nuclear fission

Fossil fuels

Steam power

Wind power

Wind power is renewable, clean and abundant. It doesn't produce greenhouse gas emissionor pollution during operation, making it an environmentally energy source. It is created by the rotation of giant blades which turns a drive shaft.

Water POwer

Hydropower, or hydroelectric power, is generated by harnessing the energy of flowing or falling water. Here's how it works:

  • Dam: A dam is built across a river to create a reservoir. The height of the dam creates potential energy in the water stored behind it.
  • Penstock: Water from the reservoir flows through pipes called penstocks. The pressure of the water increases as it flows downhill through the penstock.
  • Turbine: The high-pressure water spins turbines, which are connected to generators.
  • Generator: The spinning turbines turn generators, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
  • Transmission: The electricity generated is then transmitted through power lines to homes, businesses, and industries.

Steam Power

Steam power, produce by boiling water, heat to boil the water can be created in the following ways

Solar and photovoltaic cells

In a solar cell, solar energy is converted directlty into eletrical energy. These cells are usually mada up of two layers of semiconductors, typically silicon.

In a solar furnace there is a system of mirrors convering a wide area. They turn automatically, following the direction of the Sun, and they focus the rays onto the furnace.

Next

Fossil Fuel

Fossil fuel are coal, oil and natural gas. They can be burned to heat water in a boiler, but this isn't a renewable natural resorse and creat greenhouse gas.The majority (over 60%) of power station around the world use fossil fuel to generate electricity.

Next

Biomass

Biomass is any materia from animal or plants. It can be burned directly to produce heat or converted intobiofuels such as biodisel and ethanol.Biomass helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil suels.

Next

Geothermal energy

Geothermal energy is present under the surface of the Earth, heated by the "hot rocks" the water.Geothermal power plants can be low, medium, or high enthalpy depending on the temperature of the geothermal resources used.

Next

Nuclear fission

Nuclear fisson is the process of splitting the atoms of uranium or plutonium. It is used to produce steam to generate elecrticity.

A nuclear reactor produce an enormus amount of energy, in the form of heat, from a small amount of fuel. This energy is created through nuclear fission ehich involves the splitting of the nuclei of atoms.
