Read the text again up to 'Was she good enough to win?' (the page with the illustration of Ludy lying in bed.)

Teach

Drama Opportunity: Conscience Alley
Let's have a look at, and discuss, the illustration showing Ludy lying in bed. (the page beginning with the line 'The night before the Women's Olympics, Ludy lay awake in bed.') What is Ludy thinking here?

Teach

Drama Opportunity: Conscience Alley
Children to get into two lines facing each other. One child is to act as Ludy 'thinking' and is to stand at the start of the alley created by the two lines of children. The child acting as Ludy is to walk down the alley as the children speak her thoughts as she lies in bed the night before the Olympics. One side of the alley is to offer positive, confident thoughts. The other side is to offer negative, fearful thoughts. Add these comments to the Working Wall.
