Getting Started

Your presence in this session today indicates to me that you are familiar with google and google workspace. all of the resources we are about to dive into do require a google account in order to access. if you do not have an account setup you can do so by clicking on this button. the basics of setting up a google site.

Google Sites is a dynamic way of centrally hosting your choice board, giving you flexibility and ease of access for your students.

You can use hyperlinks and webpages to easily guide your students through the activities. Let's look at setting up a basic dashboard.

There are many ways to use this text rich environment to interact with students. This activity is focusing on the use of templates to create fun engaging writing activities.

Using Google Docs as a Choice Board Activity

Provide your students the link to copy a Google Doc Template and set their creativity free with a writing prompt you provide. This is an excellent way to allow your students to have voice in the classroom and expand on their learning.

A great resource for writing templates

Q & A Time

ontextualize your topic

Imagine a classroom where students are excited to learn, taking ownership of their understanding. Google Sites and choice boards make this a reality. By providing engaging options, you spark curiosity, cater to diverse learning styles, and turn every lesson into a chance for students to thrive. Google Sites: The Teacher's Toolkit for Differentiation: Streamline your workflow and differentiate instruction effortlessly. Google Sites offers a user-friendly platform to create dynamic choice boards, saving you time and maximizing student potential. It's a win-win for teachers and learners!

Independent/Collaborative Activities

Tips:
  • Choice Board activities should not be new material but rather spiraled in reinforcement material
  • These should be a variety of activities and changed out daily, or weekly.
  • Do not use the same activities or even the same applications each week. Student engagement and classroom management will become an issue.

Every activity comes with an exit ticket.

Ensures engagement and limits distractions.

Exit tickets are an essential part of the independent/collaborative work process. Without accountability student engagement is drastically reduced.

Independent Video Instruction

Student Paced Instructional video

Provides students with the independence to be able to refer to the instructions and examples as many times as needed to complete the activity

  • Can be scaffolded depending on students needs.
