Literature and Studies

According to these local studies, Nayak (2019), nursing students need to have a good management skills and reduction in prostactination to prepare the students in possible situations in their work at hospital. Thus, senior high school students have to understand the imporatance of time management skilld. Ocak & Boyraz (2016) academic procrastination is common to undergraduate students and they believe that time management is the reason of it because students are indecisive about their behaviors in procrastination. Lastly, according to Alfonso et al. (2018), procrastination is attitude of students to delaying their tasks it shows that the students chose to prostactinate instead of doing the task immediately thus it seem to have the negative effect to student's grades.

local

STUDIES

According to local literatures of Borbon (2021), Lualhati (2024), and Paguio (2019), their studies emphasizes that time managements skills can influence students academic performance by scheduling, goal setting and prioritizing task, But the study of Borbon (2021) also explored about difference between time management and learning motivation between Junior and Senior Students.

local

LITERATURES

These foreign studies by Aribas (2021), Sarvenaz et al. (2021) and Wolters et al. (2017) shows that there is a correlation between academic procrastination and effective time management. This means that the level of procrastination can be reduced by learning how to manage time effectively. The research also shows some other influences on procrastination such as test anxiety and self-efficacy, thus confirming the necessity for focused interventions in order to solve this problem among students.

foreign

STUDIES

According to foreign literatures of Maqableh and Alia (2021), their analysis results reveal that the most important factors behind the students' dissatisfaction during online learning are a distraction and reduced focus, psychological issues, and management issues that leads them in procrastination. In addition to that, Agnes et al., (2023) stated that time management was found to be more important than resilience in predicting autonomy. Also this study is correlational and requires further experimental studies to understand their impact on psychological well-being. And lastly, Hismanoglu and Uz (2023) said that gender significantly influenced time attitudes and year of study significantly impacted time-wasters.

1. Demographic background

The study explored the influence of demographic factors on academic procrastination among senior high school students at St. Clare College. 1.1 Percentage of Strand: The majority of respondents belonged to the ABM strand (30.7%), followed by F&B (29.3%), HUMSS, and ICT (with 20%). 1.2 Percentage of Gender: The gender distribution showed a slight majority of female respondents (52%) compared to males (48%). 1.3 Percentage of Age: Most respondents were 18 years old (38.7%), followed by 17-year-olds (29.3%).

The research identified common procrastination habits among ABM students. 2.1 Percentage of Students Procrastination Habits: Social media (57.3%) and online games (46.7%) were the top procrastination triggers, followed by household chores, delaying, and poor study routines. 2.2 Percentage of Students Behaviors or Routines: Social media remained the primary procrastination trigger (58.1%), followed by online games and household chores.

3. time management strategies that are used by shs at st. clare college

The study investigated specific time management strategies used by senior high school students. 3.1 The percentage of time management strategies that are used: Scheduling tasks (36.5%) was the most used strategy, followed by organizing tasks and note-taking. 3.2 Percentage of Students Who Missed a Deadline: 84% of students reported having missed deadlines due to time management problems. This indicates that a large majority of students struggle to meet deadlines effectively. 3.3 Percentage of Using a Planner or Schedule App: The majority of respondents (79.7%) used planners or scheduling apps.

The research examined the correlation between time management strategies and procrastination levels. 4.1 Percentages of Correlation Between Time Management Strategies and Procrastination: • 41.3% of respondents selected the neutral option regarding effectively managing time and rarely procrastinating. This signifies a substantial portion of the students are unsure about the effectiveness of their time management in reducing procrastination. • 37.3% agreed and 16% strongly agreed, indicating a combined 53.3% who believe their time management has a positive impact on reducing procrastination. • Only 5.4% disagreed, suggesting a small group doesn't see a connection between their time management and procrastination.

findings

5. Effective Time Management Strategies in Reducing Procrastination

The study identified effective time management strategies for reducing procrastination. 5.1 Percentage of Effective Time Management Strategies: Scheduling tasks emerged as the most effective strategy, with 50.7% of respondents endorsing it. Additionally, minimizing distractions and organizing tasks were considered beneficial. 5.2 Percentage of Effective Time Management Skills: The pie chart on (Figure 11) highlights how students perceive their own time management skills. 44% of students rated their skills as good. This suggests that a significant number of students have positive self-perceptions. 36% of students were neutral. This suggests that a significant number of students are unsure about their time management skills. 14.7% of students rated their skills as excellent. This demonstrates confidence in their time management skills from a smaller group of students. 5.3% of students rated their skills as poor. This suggests that only a small portion of students admit having difficulties managing their time.

conclusions

2. procrastination habits

1. Demographic background

- The student population was divided into four different strands: ICT (20%), F&B (29.3%), HUMSS (20%), and ABM (30.7%). - Gender distribution was nearly equal, with 52% females and 48% males. - Most respondents were 17 or 18 years old (68%).

- Social media (57.3%) was identified as the leading cause of procrastination, followed by online games (46.7%) and household chores (29.3%).

conclusions

4. Correlation Between Time Management Strategies and Procrastination

3. time management strategies that are used by shs at st. clare college

- Scheduling tasks (36.5%) was the most commonly used strategy, followed by note-taking (25.7%) and organizing tasks (24.3%). - Interestingly, a high percentage (79.7%) of students reported using planners or scheduling apps. - Despite using planners and various strategies, 84% of students reported missing deadlines due to time management issues.

- A significant portion (41.3%) of students reported a neutral correlation between their time management and procrastination. - However, a combined 53.3% agreed or strongly agreed on the effectiveness of time management in reducing procrastination.

CONCLUSIONs

5. Effective Time Management Strategies in Reducing Procrastination

- Scheduling tasks (50.7%) was identified as the most effective strategy for reducing procrastination. - Minimizing distractions (21.3%) and organizing tasks (21.3%) were also considered valuable strategies. - The majority (44%) rated their time management skills as good, with some students (14.7%) rating them as excellent. - However, a considerable portion (36%) were neutral, and a few (5.3%) considered them poor. - While 44% of students rated their skills as good, the pie chart in Figure 7 revealed that 84% of students had missed deadlines due to time management issues. This inconsistency highlights a potential gap between students' perception of their time management abilities and the reality of their effectiveness.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. The researchers suggest that future researchers may conduct a comparative analysis across different academic strands (ICT, F&B, HUMSS, ABM) to examine variations in time management practices and procrastination levels. This can help identify any strand-specific challenges or patterns that may influence time management behaviors.

3. DEPED might develop programs to target particular issues seen in each academic strand and think about including strategies for encouraging self-control and goal setting.

2. The study recommends parents to talk to their children about duties and to monitor their use of social media and online gaming, particularly at times when they have a lot of schoolwork.

RECOMMENDATIONS

4. The study suggests teachers at St. Clare College to improve the understanding of students about time management by showcasing real-life examples on their lessons of how effective time management helped students in overcoming procrastination and succeeding academically.

5. Senior high school students may study specific time management strategies used by students who self-reported poor results and determine the obstacles that they must overcome in order to effectively use time management strategies.
