M.E.L.O.D.I.E.S.

the e-magazine celebrating the rich musical heritage of our diverse cultures

The e-magazine, "M.E.L.O.D.I.E.S.," is the result of the fruitful cooperation of our young eTwinners from Greece (Larissa and Thebes), Italy, Romania, and Turkey and can be considered an inspiring adventure where friendship and cultural exchange are beautifully harmonized by the magic of music. Our eTwinners reflected upon themes such as friendship, love, social issues, dreams, aspirations, nature, and environmental challenges as expressed through the evocative medium of Music Art produced in each partner country. Each national group selected four songs (a song for each theme), translated them into English, and also designed engaging activities to help their partners grasp the deeper meanings of the chosen songs. Then, each partner school chose one of the themes and organized all the materials provided by their partners in a section of this e-magazine.

Each partner school searched for information to write the identity card of their partners' songs and curious aspects of the lyrics, created QR codes to enable readers to listen to the songs, uploaded the lyrics, their English versions, the activities crafted by their partners to help readers understand the true meaning of the lyrics, and curated the linguistic aspect by crafting an interactive multilingual audible dictionary of the most meaningful words/phrases of each song or a multilingual collection of sayings and proverbs from their country about the message conveyed by each song. Finally, each partner school chose one of their partners' songs and sang its chorus in the original language.

This project has helped our students compare their perspectives on common issues with their partners, making them more receptive to different cultures, enhancing their creativity, and refining their language, digital, and communication skills.

Each partner school selects a song produced in their country around 4 themes (Relationships, Social problems, Dreams, Natural Beauty)

Each partner school analyzes their songs, provide an English version and craft activities about the 4 songs to help the partners understand the lyrics

SOCIAL PROBLEMS

Creation of the emagazine:each partner school chooses the theme for their section

Each partner school creates the QR code of all the songs they are organizing in their section

Each partner school searches for information about their partners' songs related to their chosen theme and crafts an identity card for each song that will be uploaded in their section

Each partner school organizes their section in the emagazine: they upload the lyrics, its English version, the identity card of each song, the activities crafted by their partners

Each partner school chooses one of their partners' songs and sings its chorus

Each partner school chooses one of these two options: a) adding an interactive multilingual audible dictionary of significant words/phrases from each song at the end of their section, where all the partners record their voices; b) or adding a multilingual collection of sayings and proverbs from each country about the message conveyed by the songs in their section."
