INTRODUCTION
Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2) focuses on ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. This goal is essential, as hunger and malnutrition represent not only a threat to the health and well-being of millions of people around the world, but also a significant obstacle to economic and social development. Hunger refers not only to a lack of food, but also to food insecurity, where people do not have physical, economic or social access to sufficient, nutritious and culturally adequate food. Malnutrition, whether due to nutrient deficiency or excess, affects individuals of all ages and in all regions of the world, with devastating consequences for health and human development. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in 2021, more than 820 million people in the world were chronically hungry, while malnutrition affected approximately 2 billion people. These figures are alarming, especially when one considers that agriculture, the main source of food for humanity, faces challenges such as climate change, soil degradation and scarcity of water resources.
