Welcome to our Session :)

Let's find out today's learning target!

I can summarize texts in ways that maintain meaning and logical order, using text evidence.

What are we going to work today?

What does it mean to use text evidence?

For example:

1. Read carefully

3. write response

Read the text and understand its main idea and important details.

Use simple language to express your thoughts, supported by evidence from the text.

4. include evidence

2. Reflect

our response should have details, information and/or facts from what you read.

Think about the text. How did it make you feel? What did you learn?

Let's watch a video! Use Text Evidence

Once upon a time, in a cozy neighborhood, there lived a mischievous cat named Whiskers. Whiskers was known throughout the town for his love of treats, especially the delicious cookies that Mrs. Jenkins baked every day. Sneakily, Whiskers would tiptoe into Mrs. Jenkins' kitchen and snatch a cookie or two whenever he got the chance. His whiskers twitched with excitement as he savored the sweet taste of the stolen treats. However, one day, Mrs. Jenkins caught Whiskers red-handed, his paw deep in the cookie jar. Instead of scolding him, she chuckled and offered him a plate of cookies of his own, teaching Whiskers that sharing is much more rewarding than stealing. And from that day on, Whiskers became the friendliest cat in the neighborhood, always ready to share his treats with anyone who crossed his path.
