Max Weber established a sociology department in Germany at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich

Emile Durkheim helped establish sociology as a formal academic discipline by making a department of sociology at the university of Bordeaux

The term socioloigy was reintroduced by Auguste Comte

Functionalism sees society as a system of interconnected parts. It also looks past the individual to the social facts.

Functionalism

Conflict theory believes that society is a system based on power dynamics. A key aspect of this theory is class struggle.

Conflict Theory

Postmoderism is a response to the other three systems as we have shifted so quickly. They believe that moderism is either dead or does not qutie make sense anymore

This theory is based on communication. It claims that humans interact with things based off ofon the meaning assigned to the items
