Presentation

We decided to use a solo work seating arrangement as it may allow students to identify the presented geometric shapes in a picture. Additionally, they would allow students to see the board and count easily those shapes. However, the students at the back could have difficulty in counting the shapes.

We decided to use a separate- tables seating arrangement since it could allow group-work and and make easier for us to check their progress and how the activity is developing. However, some students may not want to work with other classmates or could feel intimidated.

We decided to use a horseshoe seating arrangement as it would allow collaboration between learners, we could correct their pronunciation if necessary as well as interact with the learners and vice versa. Nevertheless, we can't implemented in a small classroom.

Students identify geometric shapes in order to recognize their pronunciation and spelling in English.

See the following geometrical shapes. Do you know their names in Spanish? Now, let’s see their names in English and repeat after me. Circle, triangle, rectangle, square. Now, one more time. Circle, triangle, rectangle, square.

In our judgement, we would divide the topics in two class. One day, we would provide students with digital material for them to learn and practise. The next day, we would open a Zoom meeting to solve doubts and for group work. For instance, we could use this Genially to present this topic (geometric shapes) to students as a first contact with the language and the topic. The next day, we would arrange teams in Zoom for students to work collaboratively and practise their speaking.
