[ Romantic period : The romantic period is a literary event which had begun roughly around 1798 and lasted till 1837​ The political and economic atmosphere at the time heavily influenced this period, with many writers finding inspiration from French revolution: It is a celebration of nature, emotions of human, glorification of individuality, idealization of women and embrace of isolation​ French revolution . During this influential period, many writers found inspiration from the French reolution. ​ ​ The calls for abolition of slavery became louder during this time , ​ with more writing openly about their objectives ​ ​ After the agricultural revolution people moved away from the countryside​ and farmland and into the cities , where the industrial revolution provide​ jobs and technological innovation,​ ​ Little did they know that this would spread all around the united states in the 19th century​ ​ Romanticism was a reaction against this spread of industrialism,​ ​ as well as a criticism of the aristocratic social and political norms and a call for more attention to nature. Although writers of this time did not think of themselves as Romantics, ​ ​ Victorian writers later classified them in this way because of the ability to capture emotion and tenderness of man​, Start of romanticism:​ ​ Robert Burns:​ Is considered the pioneer of the Romantic movement. Although his death is 1796 precedes what many consider the start of romanticism, his lyricism and sincerity mark his as an early Romantic writer. ​

Ivanhoe is the story of one of the noble Saxon families at a time when the nobility in England was overwhelmingly Norman. The novel follows the Saxon protagonist, Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, who has fallen out of favor with his father for his loyalty to the Norman king Richard the Lionheart.
