the TRHEE AGITOS

"This design is the symbol of the Paralympic Games. It represents the four values of the Paralympics: courage, determination, inspiration and equality. ‘Agitos’ itself means ‘I move’ in Latin. The name symbolises the motion of the Paralympic athletes – but also the Paralympic movement as a whole and the athletes who travel to compete."

the MOTTO

The original motto, the Latin 'Citius, Altius, Fortius', was adopted by the founder of the modern games Pierre De Coubertin in the 19th century. These three words were meant to encourage athletes to give their best during competition. It means : Faster, Higher, Stronger in English.

In 2021, the word "communiter" in Latin and "together" in English were added to insist on the unifying power of sport and the importance of solidarity.
