Genius Hour

What is it? Genius Hour is awhere the teacher sets aside a certain amount of time every week or day for about 30minutes to an hour for students to learn about whatever they want. This allows students to take accountability and ownership of their learning. Also, fostering a love for learning!

Every Tues and Tursday at the end of each day; students will be given the choice to learn all about what they want. However, Tuesdays it will need to be Sciene related and Thursdays will be all about Social Studies. With each new semester teahers will have the opportunity to change the subject or theme for each subject area for students to research

The advantage of this strategy is students become the teacher. They are in charge of their learning.

Teachers and students may run into barriers with this. Such as, lack of motivation, wanting to follow what a classmate is researching, more distractions and room for behavior.
