Culture Iceberg / Onion

Culture is very similar to an iceberg. It has some aspects that are visible and many others that can only be suspected, guessed, or learned as you grow to understand cultures. Like an iceberg, the visible part of culture is only a small part of a much larger whole.

Perception filters and stereotypes

Social perception involves a judgment of social stimuli. The special case of stereotyping involves a perception based not on the stimulus target's behavior, but on the collective consensus about category membership (Lee, Jussim, & McCauley, 1995)

Values and Behaviours

A values and behaviour framework is aligned directly to your core values and principles. It describes the behaviours which are desirable (which are aligned to your core values) and those which undesirable and which are misaligned..

Prejudice and bias ethnocentric approach

Ethnocentrism is making judgements about other societies or groups based off one's cultural bias and/or beliefs.

Self-awareness for diversity

To celebrate diversity, we have to be curious about who we are as individuals. Self-awareness is what allows us to want to see the diversity in the world. Stephanie Meisner-Maggard, Marketing Director of Public Knowledge.

Personal Conclusion
