Fascinating facts about the Twin Towers or World Trade Center:
They were 110-story buildings each, conceived as a complex dedicated to various companies where up to 50,000 people could work, navigating through the 99 elevators in each tower, with an average capacity for over 50 people each, and 71 escalators.
Nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes on September 11, 2001, and crashed two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and one into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. A fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania.
