The Office of Pre-Professional & Career Preparation (PREPs) offers appointments and drop-in hours for School of Science students, pre-science students, and honors students relating to career advising and pre-professional/graduate school planning.

Appointment Types
If students are in need of quick assistance, drop-ins are available Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Drop-ins are 10-15 minutes, as it is a time for quick questions.
Appointments are 30-60 minutes depending on the topic. This is a great way to discuss career, pre-professional, and graduate school topics in greater depth! Our appointments are available in-person or virtually via Zoom and are scheduled through Handshake.

Classroom & Student Organization Presentations
If someone inquires about a presentation, they will have to request it on their own. They will first navigate to our website: go.iu.edu/sciencePREPs. They will scroll down on to the bottom of the page and see the "Request a Presentation". There is a button - "Submit a presentation request." This will take them to a Qualtrics form where they will fill out information on their requested presentation.

Our office hosts the Science & Math Career Fair in September. This fair connect our Science talent to employers hiring for internships and full-time positions.
Science & Math Career Fair
This event provides an opportunity for pre-health students and health professions schools and programs to come together. Students can learn all about the graduate school opportunities that will prepare them for a career in healthcare. Admission representatives can connect with students and inform them of their schools/program’s strengths, as well as what they look for in applicants.

Prior to the start of the semester, we post all of our events on Handshake. Here's how to find them:
- From the Handshake dashboard, click the "Events" tab.
- Click on the magnifying glass to search for the event you want to attend.
- You can type in the name of the event.
- You can type in the Office associated with the event (i.e., PREPs).
- Click on the event to view the full event description and details.
- From the event's description and details page, click "Register."

Did you know that the recruiting season for Science is in the fall? If students are searching for internships or jobs that start in summer, they should begin their search in the fall semester! Psychology students may also find many internship opportunities in the Spring semester.

When a student is "pre-professional," it means they have added an area of focus to prepare for graduate studies, usually in reference to the professional health field.
PREPs Professional School Planning
What is "pre-professional"?
Our office serves Science students who have designated or are considering a pre-professional pathway. These pathways have additional coursework students need to complete called "pre-requisites." Our office helps them plan these courses, their timeline, and assists in their application process.
