What is it?

Adaptive learning — or adaptive teaching — is the delivery of custom learning experiences that address the unique needs of an individual through just-in-time feedback, pathways, and resources (rather than providing a one-size-fits-all learning experience).

• Uses software algorithms to determine level of prior knowledge
• Decisions are data driven
• The software then adjusts based on the outcome
• If the learner demonstrates a mastery of the material then the software assigns challenging questions that will move the student to the next level while saving time not repeating material they already know.
• Students who do not meet the mastery level are given assignments that allow for them to build upon their knowledge in increments.

Design the course work on class days to be adaptive based on knowledge/skill. Set the room up so that the Advanced students help the Intermediate and Basic level students while the teacher and the mentoring is challenging the Advanced learning and re-iterating the knowledge as they work with their peers.

Learn what pre-knowledge the student is coming into the classroom with. Based on this assessment determine the level of learning suiting specific to the student's learning needs.

Flipped Classroom

Students use time at home to read and study lecture material prior to attending class.Once in class, the teacher uses the time to demonstrate the skills and information concerning the topic of learning.
