Mission #1

Scarlett lands in the 1900s and finds herself in a place with lots of small, steep hills. She discovers rocks that sparkle in the sun. Drawn to them, she starts digging and digging until she’s deep underground.

In what year did IOC ship its first load of iron ore from Schefferville to Sept-Îles?

1954

1963

1960

Well done!

You nailed the first mission. The new dial should allow Scarlett to travel to the year of her choosing.

Now that she can find her way back, Scarlett tries to set the dial to 2024. BOOM! Something’s gone haywire!

Mission #2

Whoopsie-daisy! Scarlett’s lost her grip on the compass and ended up in another unknown time period. This time, it looks like people are building a railroad. Help Scarlett complete the mission to find her compass.

Queen Elizabeth II

Scarlett finds herself in 1959. A very famous person visits the Iron Ore Company of Canada’s new railroad in Schefferville. Do you know who it is?

Charles de Gaule

John F. Kennedy

Well done!

Getting that compass back will certainly help Scarlett find her way home. But uh-oh, it looks like the compass is missing its needle, sending Scarlett hurtling through space time!

Onward to the next mission: finding that needle to point her compass in the right direction!

Mission #3

Scarlett is zapped into a galaxy far, far away. The year is 2224.

She’s astonished to discover that the iron ore she found on her first mission is now the cornerstone of the economy in this distant world. There are statues in her honour on every street corner. Scarlett’s the hero who saved the planet! But wait, what did they do with those shiny rocks?

What are two products Rio Tinto can make from iron ore?

Diamonds and plastic

Concentrate and pellets

Lithium and electricity

Hooray!

You found the compass needle. Scarlett starts the time machine, but oh no, there’s a new problem—there’s no brake pedal, and she’s gone too far again!

Continue to the next mission to hunt down the brake pedal.

Mission #4

Scarlett’s all mixed up and can’t remember what year it is.

Scarlett’s almost in the clear now that she’s got those brakes working.

But uh-oh, she’s lost her steering wheel! The time machine is zigzagging all over the place—good thing she has brakes now.

Scarlett has to find that steering wheel, pronto!

Mission #5

She’s closing in on the finish line, and needs your help to figure out what’s true or false.

Scarlett knows she’s getting closer to 2024 as she spots IOC’s 930E trucks. Phew! No more statues of her, and no more flying cars. What a relief!

Yay!

Scarlett’s back in business with her trusty steering wheel.

Everything’s set for one last trip in time—back to 2024 we go!

Mission #6

There are no explosions, dinosaurs, or flying cars in sight. Scarlett’s excited—it seems like she’s back in the present! She spots workers from afar, wearing helmets, gloves, reflective vests, earmuffs, goggles, and big steel-toed boots.

No question about it! The “Courage to Care” health and safety shift is in full swing, which means it’s some time after 2019.

Scarlett’s thrilled to be back in the present, all thanks to your help.

She couldn’t have done it without you!She hopes your new knowledge of iron helps you in the future, and that you had fun on IOC Day!

THE END!
