Getting to know about their likes, dislikes, struggles, and preferences can become gateways to building strong relationships. Additionally, if one gets to learn about their interests, passions, and fears it will lead to opportunities that will offer better support. To know who someone is, it requires active listening. That means allowing the person to speak without interruptions. After a question is asked, if there is opportunity, affirm what the person has said. There will always be difficult times when applying new strategies or when dealing with certain situations. In many cases, teachers can become frustrated and feel like they are at a standstill by neither seeing progress or finding difficulty. These are great moments to offer suggestions. After hearing what they teachers objectives are, one can assess the current situation and brain storm ideas that are helpful. For example, one can start by saying something like, "one thing that you could try is..." or "What ideas do you have about..." These are ways to help the teacher by also being supportive. Promoting Motivation & Self-Efficacy
Getting to Know Them
By getting to know who the educator is, you will be better equipped to help them become more motivated and have self-efficacy. By learning about their goals, you can contribute to helping them achieve them. Offering helpful advice and strategies will undoubtedly lead to higher classroom achievements. This in turn will result in a surge of confidence and motivation. As a result, the educator will have a higher belief in their abilities to successfully complete tasks. By implementing strategies that are useful, the teacher will have self-efficacy that is long lasting.
Promoting Motivation & Self-Efficacy
Effective Feedback
When feedback is properly given, the recipient will attain many benefits. The result of giving sound feedback will help the teacher because he/she will make progress and reach their goals. This will translate to higher motivation as well as self-efficacy. For instance, suppose a teacher is working on new strategies to help bridge the reading gap of some of their students. By helping them achieve their goals, the teacher will more likely have higher self-efficacy. Their teaching strategies will be directly correlated to students' achievement. By yielding impressive results, both students and teacher achieve success. This will give the teacher more confidence in their teaching practices.
Promoting Motivation & Self-Efficacy
Provide Suggestions
There are many ways to help teachers overcome obstacles. One of those is by providing suggestions. Carefully thought-out questions that can help teachers find reasonable solutions is a skill that mentors must provide. When asking questions for the purpose of helping someone find a solution, one must be careful to hear what the teacher/educator is trying to accomplish. Well placed questions are relevant and congruent to the teachers' goals. Also, when an educator suggests, it gives the mentee a sense of ownership. They are actively involved in the decision making because they can choose to use the suggestions given. Their direct contributions to the implementation and success in the classroom will build confidence and self-efficacy.

Motivation and Self-Efficacy
The relationship between motivation and self-efficacy
Self-efficacy is the belief someone has in themselves to meet their goals or reach an achievement. That directly correlates with motivation. When someone has confidence that they can meet the standards of a task, they also have the motivation to carry out and fulfill it. By being motivated, the person is more inclined to take the steps necessary to meet their goals.
Support for Ongoing Development
There are several things that you must do to help support adult learners. It is important to use strategies that will help everyone. There is no one-size-fit all approach, and there will be times when the strategies used are ineffective. For that reason, it is important to remember to be flexible. Also, one should be reflective. One must reevaluate how they are doing as a mentor and strive to improve. By doing so, it will ensure that adult learners are receiving significant help that will lead to success within the classroom.
