What do you notice? What do you wonder? Consider groupings, the shapes in each group, or anything else that connects with the math you have been learning this year.
NOTICE AND WONder
Teammates' observations
Did you know...
Did you know there are nearly 3,000 new games made each year?
Did you know that lots of people play board games as a hobby? They even have conventions where people come together to play board games as a weeklong event with prizes. A board game convention can have as many as 200,000 people attend!
Structure your content
Think about this image that you saw in today's Warm Up. If you think about playing board games, this could represent six tables with four seats at each table. This could be a small board game get-together at a local library or community center.
Depending on the game, you may need to arrange the tables and chairs in different ways. For example, a checkers game requires only two players. Share how you would change the board game area if the game is played by two people.
Go to page 1 of the Classkick!
The board game convention is now more popular and more people want to attend! Players have a choice of four games to play. Each game type requires a different number of players. Study the table.
Making a diagram to plan the space being set up for the board game convention is important. Here is what the planning team knows: The game room has 16 identical square tables. It takes some careful planning and drawing to make a plan for the board game convention. Take a look at the diagram to see how your teammates decided to set up the tables and chairs.
Step 2
Step 3
Go to pages 2 and 3 of the Classkick to answer questions about the diagram.
They have tables labeled A, B, C, and D to show that tables are set for each of the four games. They arranged the chairs using the number of players information from the table.
Step 2
Step 3
brain break!
The diagram that shows the seating will be helpful to set up the tables and chairs.
But, there are other ways to represent data from the diagram so that it is more useful for the board game convention.
Go to Classkick page 4.
Analyzing and interpreting data
We completed the table in the Classkick. The information can also be shown in a bar graph.
different ways to show data
We are going to create a bar graph using the Create a Graph Website. Click on the link in the chatbox to begin!
Make a bar graph!
1. Go to the Classkick to answer a question about the bar graph.2. Complete the Practice and Skill Builders and On Your Own sections of today's lesson.3. If you COMPLETED the Classkick, you can submit the Warm-Up and Explore sections BLANK.
