The library is a great place to bring your students! I love giving them work time in the library, or project time. They enjoy the change of scenery and first line access to the Beast Brew.

BACK IN THE DAY...

people used the library for research and projects. Big books, enclyopedias, index cards. It is more than that today.

CREATION PROJECTS

Tables provide a space that fits larger paper and supplies.Provides more room between students.Poster creation, story boards, etc.

GROUP WORK

Teamwork, problem solving, student made board games, break out boxes. Give them more room than just your classroom.

INDEPENDENT ASSIGNMENTS

Put one student per table when you want more space between them.Access to printers and other resources.

STATION ROTATION

Put an activity at several tables and have students rotate between them. Enough room for individuals or groups.

STUDENT PRESENTATIONS

Classroom Management Tips

Make a seating chart if needed.Have students sit one or two to a table.Beast Brew Procedures? Can they purchase without asking you? The last 30 minutes? If they turn in an assignment?Consider saving the soft seating options for students who are consistently are on task and are passing your class.

Is it for you?

Know your students behavioral challenges, ability to focus, sustained attention.Reflect on your teaching style and preferences.If you have three sections of a class, you may not feel like the library is a good place for all of them.

HOW TO SIGN UP?

The sign up book is behind the library desk. Mr. Bob can help you find a date that works.Typically we have space for two classes at a time and we have one class on each side. Usually signing up a couple weeks in advance is enough to ensure there is space available.
