One highlight from my practicum experience in a 2nd grade general education mixed with special education classroom was witnessing a breakthrough moment with a student who struggled with reading comprehension. After a couple of targeted interventions and one-on-one support, I saw the joy on their face when they finally grasped a concept and independently answered questions about a story we had been working on. It was incredibly rewarding to see their confidence grow and their progress in such a tangible way.

Throughout my program of study, I've learned the importance of differentiation and individualized instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. I've gained valuable insights into creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels supported and valued. Additionally, I've learned various teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and foster their academic and social-emotional development.

What have you learned throughout your program of study?

Teaching, to me, means making a positive impact on students' lives by empowering them to reach their full potential. It's about fostering a love for learning, nurturing curiosity, and instilling confidence in each student. Teaching goes beyond delivering content; it involves building relationships, cultivating a sense of belonging, and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed academically and beyond. It's a profession that requires dedication, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
