My impression

I did not have really expectations when I arrived in New-Zealand. It is a beautiful country but really wild and uninhabited. There are lots of differences with France like crosswalk, high school, houses,...There is a particular accent too. However, New-Zealanders are nice and welcoming. So, to coclunde, it was a great trip in a new country.

Culture

The first thing who surpise me is the early time for dinner, New-Zealanders eat early. And they eat everything at every time. They don't have traces for crosswalk. They have an other official langages : the maori. And the akka song is really scary. They have the ANZAC day to commemorate deaths of people during the first World War.

New sentences and words

  • "She is away" , "I wonder", "You sent my battleship", "well done"
  • "busy" , "especially", "Here we go"
  • "awake"
  • "vault"

Being in a host family

It is not my first time in a host family, but this time is different. Indeed, there is a very family life, they eat togeher, they have a lot of activities, they cook... It looks like the life in a frensh familie. Sometime, it is difficult because the life is different and I fin it hard to adapte. And, sometime, I want do something, move but I can't. To be honest, my adaption is complicated because differences are too big. However, it is a good experience and it let me to discover a "new world".

School life

The school life in New-Zealand is very differtent. They have short day, they start at 8:30 am and they finish at 3 am or 2:30 pm. They have six subjects to choose from like drama, music, psycologie, maths, sport, cooking,... The class are bigger and more decorate. They have a cantine where they can buy food but most of the time, they bring their lunch box. Moreover, the relation between teacher and student are friendlier. To my mind, the New-Zealand shcool looks like american school life and differs really of frensh school life.

Some advice

  • Don't be afraid of speaking even if you make mistaques
  • Reach out to others (Frenchs and New-Zealanders)
  • Be yourself
  • Try to be integrate in the family even if it is complicated
  • Sometime, take time for you, take a rest
  • Make the most of it

Thank you

Fish'n chips night

We have ate a fish'n chips together, French and New-Zealanders. It was a great moment, really user-friendly. We sang, we talked with everybody. It was great.

Arrontown

We visited Arrontown, it is a little village of chinese gold diggers. It looked like a fer west town. But, it was really small.

Lake Tekapo

We walked around the lake and we observed the nature of Tekapo. We walked to Shepard Church and saw a dog statue. After we visited the little village. It was a great activity despite the rain and the wind. La ke Tekapo is a wonderful place.

Wanaka

We stopped at Wanaka where we eat in front of the lake. Afert we walked on the beach to the Wanaka tree, a tree in the water. Then, we went for a walk in the city. I t was great, the landscape is beautiful. It was a good stop despite the cold wind.

Earthquake tour

We wlaked on the city in the footsteps of earthqake to see damges, also we saw the Cardboard Cathedral. After we visited Quake City, the museum of the earthquake. To finish, we went to the memorial. It was really ineresting and educative.

Botanic Garden

After the museum, we went to the Botanic Garden. We had to take selfies of part of the park to discover it. It was really nice, the garden is beuatiful.

Quennstown

We visited the center of Queenstown and we did shopping. After that we walked around the lake to return at our motel. It was great and the walk was wonderful.

Luge

When we were in Queenstown, we took Gondola to get on a mountain. On the mountain we made luge. It was funny and fast. And the view of Quennstown and its lake was amazing.

Hot pools

After the hike, we went to Tekapo hot pools to have a good time. We bathed in the water that was between 38 and 40°C. It was very hot. It was fun and we talked together taking advantage of hot water.

Salmon Farm

We stooped at the Salmon Fram where we could observe salmons and give them food. Some students have eaten sushis. Miss Houssay bought a piece of salmon for each of us. It was good.
