Development of an 18 Month Old Child.

Emotional

Intellectual

Social

When asked, an 18 month old to point to an object, they are able to point it out. Although the child might not be talking a lot or saying the names, a child knows peoples names, body parts and objects. The child knows the phrases "no" "yes" "not right now" "when we go home" etc.

Children at 18 months start to throw more tantrums, and cling to caregivers in new situations.

Children start to learn more play during this age through imagination, and using different objects.

Children at this age show affection to familiar people, but may be more standoff to strangers. They like to play by handing different things to people. When feeling comfortable with people, children start to try new things they see being done by others.
