What is a Quality Enhancement Plan?
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is the component of the reaffirmation process that reflects and affirms the commitment of SACS-COC to enhancing the quality of higher education in the region and to focusing attention on student learning. The QEP describes a planned course of action that attempts to address a well-defined and focused topic or issue related to enhancing student learning and/or student success.
SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation states the QEP has five essential elements
- The QEP is derived from institutional planning and evaluation processes.
- The QEP has broad-based support of institutional constituencies.
- The QEP focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success.
- The institution is committing and will continue to commit resources needed for the QEP to have a good chance of success.
- The QEP includes a plan to assess the level of that success.

Providing and Promoting Resources
"The Lesson Library is just one of many great features of the QEP." - Dr. Zani
The Lesson Library is an interactive space where instructors can download ready made lessons, modules, or even full course shells. Instructors can also contribute their own lessons to collaborate, discuss teaching strategies, and improve their course.
The QEP Space is always developing.
Continuously evolving and regularly updated with new features, this interactive environment serves as a hub for innovative teaching practices and student engagement within the QEP initiative. Leah Alsibaa, the QEP director, crafted the online QEP space to reflect her passion for online learning. She envisioned a space where everyone could experience the richness of digital education at LSCPA.

Logic Model 3
Year 1: Planning and Preparation
Selection of QEP Director and Initial Planning
In the first year, the focus is on laying the groundwork for the initiative. The QEP director is appointed and tasked with outlining the strategic direction of the program. Initial planning involves identifying key personnel, establishing goals, creating training materials, and outlining the timeline for implementation.
Year 2: Implementation Kickoff
Initiating QEP Activities
Year two marks the beginning of implementing the QEP initiatives. Activities such as faculty training sessions, integration of low-stakes assignments, and enhancement of student support systems are launched. The emphasis is on ensuring smooth execution and engaging faculty in the process.
Year 5: Outcome Report and Planning for the Future
Reporting and Forward Planning
The fifth year marks the culmination of the initial five-year cycle of the QEP. A report detailing the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned is compiled and submitted to SACSCOC. Additionally, a new timeline for the next five years is developed, incorporating insights gained from the first cycle to further advance student success and graduation rates.
(which will include the proposal for the next 10 year QEP adoption)
Year 3: Continuation and Refinement
Sustaining QEP Efforts
Building upon the momentum from the previous year, the third year focuses on the continued implementation and refinement of QEP activities. Faculty and staff remain committed to improving teaching practices, fostering academic resilience, and maximizing student supports. Efforts are made to assess progress, address challenges, and make necessary adjustments to enhance effectiveness.
Year 4: Evaluation and Adjustment
Assessment and Adaptation
Year four involves a comprehensive evaluation of the QEP initiatives to gauge their impact and effectiveness. Feedback from stakeholders, data analysis, and assessment of outcomes are conducted to identify areas of success and areas needing improvement. Based on the findings, adjustments are made to the plan to better align with the overarching goals.
