This interactive lesson was designed to provide you with important information on searching the Internet more effectively. It contains informational websites and guides, videos, and infographics. Some of them provide simple tips for searching, while others provide a deeper explanation of how Internet search engines work. All are added to increase your knowledge and understanding of internet searching.
Here are four websites that should help provide all the information you could want on effective internet searching. The two on the far right simply offer quick tips. The Library Guide at the bottom is the most extensive.
Here I have selected four videos that will help you to understand how the internet works and how to conduct online searches more effectively. Each of the videos is about 5 minutes for a quick, thorough explanation.
These two infographics provide a quick reference for search tips. The one on the left teaches you some search operators that help narrow down the results to more useful information. If you are searching for information for research, the infographic on the right breaks down the steps. Keep these in mind as you search!
