Blended learning gives students autonomy, allowing them to take ownership of their learning.
Why Blended Learning?
Working independently on assignments online allows students to work at their own pace.
Why blended learning helps students and teachers flourish
Several reasons why blended learning should be implemented in the classroom include evaluation, pacing, student autonomy, engagement, goal-setting, and expense. Click the pink buttons on the left in the image to learn more.
Goal Setting
With blended learning, both students and teachers can participate in goal-setting. Since most digital applications show students their scores on an assignment or quiz automatically, students get immediate feedback. With this, students are able to set goals for themselves on how they can do better. For example, if a student only got 5/10 questions correct on a math game, they could make a goal to get 7/10 questions correct the next time, and monitor their progress as they go. Teachers in the state of Texas are required to set a T-TESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System) goal every year. Teachers can set their goal for the year on blended learning strategies and incorporating them in their classroom, solving two problems at the same time with a single action.
Expense
Blended learning cuts costs.
In a study done by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute (Horn and Staker, 2012), the costs of blended learning were significantly lower than the $10,000 national average for traditional brick-and-mortar schools. They find that, on average, the costs were around $7,600 for blended learning programs.

Engagement
With blended learning, students are more engaged. By combining traditional paper and pencil instructional strategies and technology to learn content, students have a higher level of engagement. Gamified, interactive learning keeps students interested and engaged in the content for longer.
Evaluation
Blended learning makes evaluation easier for teachers! How? By using digital assessment tools to evaluate, teachers save time. No more spending endless hours grading quizzes and tests by hand. Many digital assessment tools grade assessments automatically. Some even have the ability to sync to the teacher's gradebook and auto-populate grades
