Objective: To demonstrate the effective integration of the Grammar Translation Method with the Communicative Approach to enhance language learning in an intermediate English class for adult learners.

The class consists of adult learners with a basic understanding of English, aiming to improve their language proficiency. They come from diverse cultural backgrounds and have varied experiences in language learning.

Begin the class by introducing both teaching methods: the Grammar Translation Method and the Communicative Approach. Explain the key characteristics, principles, and objectives of each method. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.

Organize role-playing activities where students apply language learned from the translation exercise in real-life scenarios. Each group will be assigned a scenario (e.g., ordering food, asking for directions) to act out using English. Encourage effective communication and creativity, emphasizing fluency over accuracy.

Divide the class into small groups. Provide each group with a short English text containing relevant grammatical structures. Instruct them to translate the text into their native language using the Grammar Translation Method. Then, ask them to re-translate the text back into English, focusing on accuracy and comprehension.
