cheese burger

The cheeseburger goes all the way back to 1924 in Pasdena, Californa. Lionel Sternberger was working at his father's roadside stand, when he burned one side of a burger. The stories about Sternberger offer two reasons as to why he might have topped the burger with cheese. Rather than throw it away, he covered the error with cheese and served it to a delighted customer. Or, a hobo came by the stand and wanted as much as he could get for his 15¢ and asked for everything possible on it, including cheese. Whatever the real story might be, that little burger with cheese became a regular fixture on the menu. It was called the "Aristocratic Hamburger: The Original Hamburger with Cheese." "Sternberger was supposed to have a pretty sharp sense of humor, which could explain the Aristocratic Burger title," says Little. It seems to be a happy coincidence that Lionel Sternberger was responsible for the first cheeseburger.Cheese burgers are made from 2 buns, meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato and more.

hot chicken sandwich

Hot chicken originated in Nashville, Tennessee in the 1930s. Legend has it that the first hot chicken was created by Thornton Prince, the owner of a Nashville restaurant called Prince's Hot Chicken Shack. According to the story, Thornton's girlfriend was angry with him one night and sought revenge by making his fried chicken dish as spicy as possible. However, Thornton loved the dish and decided to start serving it in his restaurant, where it quickly became a hit. While hot chicken as a dish has been around for nearly a century, the hot chicken sandwich is a relatively recent creation. The first hot chicken sandwich is said to have been served at the Big Shake's Hot Chicken and Fish restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee in the early 2000s. The sandwich quickly gained popularity and has since become a staple of Southern cuisine. Hot chicken sandwiches are made from 2 buns, chicken, paprika, vegetabke oil. And flour, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

french fries

French fries are made from potatoes, salt is added to them they are crispy and delicous. The French, Spanish and Belgians all claim that they invented the dish. French fries have become a quintessential part of the American diet, but who brought them here? Turns out, presidents have had lots of interesting food preferences, and President Thomas Jefferson is responsible for Americans' fry consumption. He brought them to public awareness after discovering them while working abroad as American Minister to France. His chef (and slave) James Hemings continued to make them for the president when they returned to the United States.

spaghetti

Spaghetti is a dish with noodles with tomato sauce added and sometimes people add meatballs and sometimes people eat them itself. The modern version of spaghetti comes from Italian innovation. But they were not the first people to make noodles. There’s an apocryphal story that Marco Polo, while traveling in the 1300s, encountered dried noodles in China and brought them back to Italy. The Chinese have been making noodles since 3000 BCE, and there are records of their creation from as early as the 3rd century CE. That’s a lot of time to perfect the art of noodles, so it could make sense that Polo encountered them on his travels and brought them along. This story, however, is largely debunked. It’s more likely Italians were introduced to a spaghetti predecessor that originated closer to home. Throughout the Mediterranean, from Greece to the Levant to Northern Africa, there are multiple accounts of a food called itrion/itrium/itriyya—flour and water combined, formed into strips, and dried. It is far more likely that Italian pasta evolved from this dish.

In 1963 Rober C. Baker invented chicken nuggets in a laboratory at Cornell University. They were among dozens of poultry products he developed during his career, including turkey ham and chicken hot dogs, helping to greatly expand the U.S. poultry industry.Baker did not patent chicken nuggets. Instead, he mailed the recipe to hundreds of American companies that would later profit from his invention. But it would take a new health trend for Americans to truly embrace the chicken nugget.

poutine

Poutine is a Canadian dish made with french fries, cheese curds, gravy, and brown gravy. Poutine was first made in the 1950s, Several towns claim to be the birthplace of this beloved Canadian snack-meal-diner specialty. A favorite version puts the birth in Warwick in 1957. The story is that at the request of a truck driver who wanted something hot to go, Fernand Lachance combined hot French fries and cheese curds. One thing is not in doubt: poutine comes from Quebec. The warming nature of a poutine is perfect for the chilly winters that hit this province; the fries honor the humble potato that grows so well in parts of Quebec, as well as the French tradition of hot crispy frites. The fresh cheese curds were so widely available because French-Canadians kept up the cheese-making traditions of France long after the initial settlers established Nouvelle France. What began in Quebec by no means stayed in Quebec, however. Truck drivers who loved the affordable sustenance poutine provided started requesting it from establishments outside the borders of Quebec and dragged the filling dish with them from the Maritime Provinces along the Atlantic all the way to B.C. and the Pacific.
