The connection between computers and network devices (router, switches) is made using cables. There are several standards for wired networks, although the most widespread is Ethernet, which can use different speeds: - Fast Etherne - 10 Gigabit Ethernet

WAN

Wide Area Network (WAN,wide area network): It is a network that interconnects computers from very large geographic areas, such as countries or continents. The networks are connected by cables, mobile connections and using communications satellites. Example: Internet network.

MAN

metropolitan area network (MAN,metropolitan area network): It is a network that covers areas of several kilometers or even regions. Example: WiMAX wireless networks, which provide Internet to the inhabitants of a town.

PAN

personal area network(PAN, personal area network): They are networks that communicate different devices that are within a radius of a few meters. They use wireless connections that vary depending on use: connection of peripherals (infrared, wireless, USB...)

LAN

Local area network(LAN, local area network): It is the most common type of network, as it connects computers in a relatively small area, such as a room, office, house, or building. Connections between computers are usually made through network cabling or Wi-Fi.

They are networks that do not require cables to establish a connection. Communication is done through waves. There are various wireless communication technologies for this type of networks, although the most common are electromagnetic waves, terrestrial microwaves, satellite microwaves and infrared.

● Bluetooth: It is a standard communications protocol between devices for the transmission of voice and data without cable, using a secure radio frequency in the 2.4GHz band. Allows short-range connections to be established. Used in keyboards, computers, printers, digital cameras, hands-free, etc.

● Infrared:Visible devices communicate with each other using infrared light, so they must be aligned directly or with a reflection on a surface. It is used in remote controls, mobile devices and some peripherals. One of the most used standards is IrDA.

● Wifi: It is a wireless technology that makes the connection using microwaves that propagate through the antennas of the devices. The Wifi connection is used for communication and transfer of information between devices that .
