- make requests
- ask for or give permission
COULD COULDN'T COULD NOT + VERB
Could is an auxiliary verb, a modal auxiliary verb. We use could to:
- talk about past ability
- make requests
BE ABLE TO + VERB
IS / ARE / AM + ABLE TO
IS / ARE / AM + NOT + ABLE TO
We use "be able to" to use it instead of can and could.
