Welcome to our Session :)
Let's find out today's learning target!
I can make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and society.
What are we going to work today?
What does it mean to make connections to a text?
In texts, we can find ideas connected to our lives, the society, and other texts!
For example:
Our Goal is to make connections...
Text to text
Text to self
Text to world
Let's watch a video!
Let's try it!
For example:
We will read 2 stories
- Have you ever been in one of these situations?
- How did you feel?
The first one is about a girl who learns how to ride a bike. The second one is about a boy who has some very difficult math homework.
Do you think these two stories might include some of the same ideas?
Let's try it!
Sarah's bike ride
Once sunny day, Sarah decided it was time to learn how to ride a bike. With her shiny red bicycle and her dad by her side, she took a deep breath and climbed onto the seat. At first, wobbling and shaky, she struggled to keep her balance, but with each try, she grew stronger and more confident. With her dad's gentle encouragement and her own effort, Sarah pedaled faster and faster, feeling the wind in her hair and the joy in her heart. And just like that, Sarah soared down the street, her smile as bright as the sun, knowing that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to.
Let's try it!
Max's Homework
Max stared at the math homework on his desk. He couldn’t remember how to even begin and his mind was full of doubt. But Max wasn't going to give up. He took a deep breath and remembered what he had practiced that day with his Papaya tutor. Then, he sharpened his pencil and got to work, one problem at a time. Despite the challenge Max kept trying. Finally, he cracked the code and found the solutions. With a triumphant grin, he realized that even the toughest problems could be conquered with a little patience and a lot of perseverance.
