Promoting thinking out loud through questioning

Does it have benefits?

Encourages metacognition

improves student engagement

provides proof of knowledge

leads to learning by listening to others

makes the learner responsible for the learning process

And... barriers too?

lots of content to cover and limited time

Students do not have the capability to talk

Students do not want to talk

Some voices dominate the group

I am worried about behaviour

I don’t know how to promote talk
