The Skalès Sea

The known world of Zeldren is structured around the vast Skalès Sea. its fertile shores were the birthplace of the anthropes, a humanoid species with a highly developed intelligence. They are divided into multiple rival empires and kingdoms, alternating between violent war and treacherous peace. More mysterious species, such as the Gormians and Zlatibors, tend to invade the sea's surroundings, further altering the fragile balance between peoples. The sea is the link between cultures where everything is at odds, making it an ideal place for both war and trade.

The various factions in the Zeldren universe have hugely variable technological advancement. For instance, Mylon and Dimokratia on one side reject most of the zeldrite's use and embrace archaïc technologies for most of their needs. On the other hand, the Khorrambad empire is built on an aggressive and opportunistic use of refined zeldrite at every level.

Technology

The Zeldrite stone is at the heart of many conflicts and power rivalries. Onces refined, it can be used as a powerful weapon and energy source.

Mylon

Mylon is a remote country on the edge of the known world. It is bordered to the south by the Frossen, a snow-covered and impenetrable mountain range. To the west lie the Western Lands occupied by Olegnan. To the north lies the Skalès Sea and the diásparta islands. To the east lie the wastelands of Tzerken, soiled by the war against the Zlatjbor centuries ago. Mylon has a humid sub-polar climate, largely affected by the many volcanoes in the east.

Le colonie de Mylon a été fondée sur des terres maudites, souillées par une malédiction ancienne. Certains prêtres ont cependant réussi à la maîtriser et ont acquéri des pouvoirs sur la mort elle-même. On raconte que les prêtres de batailles sont capables de rescusités d'une simple incantation un soldat tombé à leurs pieds.

Mylon is governed by the Dark King Istenberg III and Crystal Parliament. It's a feudal society where the local lords share power with the King. One the King's personal priviledge is to raise an army of citizens for any prupose regarding the defense of the Kingdom. The nobles participate to the war when necessary as officer but are generally under the orders of a royal attaché.

Externally, Mylon has only one real enemy, the Olegnan. Since its appearance in 241, it has constantly attacked Mylon, even occupying part of the west of the country. But the unification of the Khorrambad empire, located on Olegnan's northern border, reduced the intensity of the fighting against Mylon. Caught between two fronts, Olegnan had no choice but to halt its offensive on Mylon and adopt a defensive posture in order to concentrate on the dangerous Khorrambad. Rumour has it that Mylon is preparing to launch a massive counter-offensive against Olegnan.

Contrary to what some might think about Mylon, it is not a warrior state. On the contrary, the last few centuries have been marked by a policy of neutrality, resolutely anchored in isolationism. It was only because it was attacked by Olegnan several years ago that the Crown of Mylon had to relaunch its armament and mass mobilisation campaigns. This new policy is largely promoted by the new king, Istenberg III, who, unlike his cautious forebears, dreams of conquest and expansion.

Relations with Dimokratia are stable. The two countries are still rivals and maintain only the coldest and least cordial relations. However, the memory of centuries of destructive wars between the two countries still haunts both sides. Peace is therefore the order of the day, as long as there is nothing to quarrel about.
