has it ever happened?
-Only nuclear weapons attack in history has been unilateral. -Strategic bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. They caused great damage. The limited number and reduced power of these weapons used do not allow us to infer the results of a large-scale nuclear war with contemporary weaponry.
History
-At the beginning of World War II, scientists and governments were aware of the possibility of creating a nuclear weapon. -Germany and the United States were in a position to be able to do so. -The United States were able to secretly start the Manhattan Project, build atomic bombs that would give them a decisive advantage in World War II.
-On August 6 and 9, 1945, the United States Air Force dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.-Both cities were instantly annihilated, with approximately between 150,000 and 220,000 deaths, the vast majority of whom were civilians. -The immense power provided by these weapons initiated a massive arms race among the powers already engaged in the Cold War, both in terms of atomic weapons and others -the Soviet Union closely followed the Manhattan Project and was able to develop its own bombs.
Results
-Throughout the Cold War, both major powers and other smaller nations threatened each other with tens of thousands of nuclear weapons ready to be fired, following a concept known as overkill that ensured the enemy's total destruction multiple times over.
Solutions to prevent this:
-This level of danger and tension led to numerous treaties aimed at limiting the deployment and effects of nuclear weapons-Although the number of nuclear weapons ready to be fired and their alert levels have significantly decreased, they continue to form the backbone and primary security guarantee in many industrialized countries around the world
Nuclear war
-USA and URRS: main character. -The radiation and the climate change it would produce would leave the Earth's atmosphere severely affected. -Living beings would suffer the effects of a nuclear winter. -Survivors would have to carry out the reconstruction of the planet's infrastructure under very challenging conditions. -The flora and fauna would be affected by multiple mutations.
TV SERIES AND MOVIES:
-Topic commonly used in science fiction literature that became fashionable during the Cold War -It has also inspired numerous authors and artists as a symbol of absolute evil, abuse of reason of state, violence, death or destruction.
