MEDITERRANEAN DIET

¡start!

The Mediterranean diet consists of plant-based foods and the main ingredients are vegetables, fruits, spices, nuts, cereals and olive oil. Moderate amounts of dairy, poultry, eggs and seafood.Meat, cheese and sweets are very limited.

It is the way of eating based on traditional cuisine and occurs in Mediterranean countries, but it can occur anywhere in the world.

The first scientific references are from 1948 when they found that the incidence of coronary heart disease was lower in rural areas of south Europe and Japan. They suspected there was a different lifestyle, which they called "the Mediterranean way".

PROPERTY: The health benefits attributed to olive oil are based on the fact that Mediterranean countries consume more fat than the United States, the incidence of cardiovascular diseases is lower. It is also attributed to the consumption of oily fish and moderate consumption of red wine.

FOODS THAT ARE NOT ON THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET:- Fast food: hamburgers, hot dogs and processed meats.- Refined cereals with white flour: pasta made with wheat or white bread.- Refined seed oils and vegetable oils.- Savoury appetizers and industrial pastries.

if you want to be healthy, eat a Mediterranean diet.
