What is a foreign student?

A foreign student is someone studying in a country other than their own. They enroll in educational institutions like schools, colleges, or universities, either for short-term programs or full-degree courses.

Who will we interview?

We will interview Carolina Almeida.

What country and what city is she from?

She is from Fallowfield, Manchester, United Kingdom.

Where was she born?

She was born in the Manchester Royal Hospital.

When did you came?

I have been here since i was 10.

What is your culture like?

The culture is different are more reserved, have less friends than in Portugal, usually only go out to go out to go to pubs. The holidays have to do with the royal Family.

What is your native language?

My mother language is English.

Why did you choose Portugal?

I came here because my parents are portuguese

Why did you choose Santo André?

My parents grew up in Santo André and they missed their family, that's why we moved here.

Did you find anything strange when you arrived?

About the strange things in Portugal, the change of climate was really strange

How did you adapt?

I adapted quite well.

Did you have any culture shock?

For the culture shock, using the euro was really hard, the school system was different. The school dress code is very different here, the food is also very different and the language barrier was also a cultural shock

Are you enjoying?

I like Portugal, it's a good place to live

What do you like the most?

What I like the most are the beaches

What do you like the least?

There aren't many buses. There aren't a lot of things to do in Santo André.

What is your favorite recipe from your country?

Yorkshire Pudding, my favorite dessert.

What is British pudding?

3 large eggs 3/4 cup of milk 3/4 cup flour 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup melted butter (melted beef or pork fat can substitute for the butter for a more traditional flavor).

How is it done?

Instructions Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Beat the eggs and milk until they form foam and then mix with the flour and salt. Do not overmix. Let the dough rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. 3. Add about a teaspoon of shortening to each cup of muffin pan. Place the pan in the oven to heat for five to seven minutes. 4.Fill each muffin cup halfway and return to the oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the puddings are crisp and golden. Serve immediately, drizzled with remaining melted butter as desired.
