Evaluation

  • Small portfolio including:
    • New vocabulary glossary
    • Job offer
    • CV
    • Dialogue script
  • Oral presentation rubric:
    • Body language
    • Correct use of interview specific expressions (provided by the video)
    • Pronunciation

Thank you!

Act out your interview!

The whole class will act out their dialogues. - They will submit the script so that the teacher can follow the conversation. - The teacher will ask some follow up questions to prompt spontaneous answers related to the topic. - The rest of the students will have to fill in the rubric about body language and speaking in public and then decide if they are hired or not.

In small groups, swap your job offers and evaluate strong and weak points: - Does it have all relevant information? - Is it reasonable? Self-reflection: In pairs, write down 2 strengths and 2 weakeness of your partner and of yourself, justifying why you think they are positive or negative. Compare notes and talk about personal perception in the class. How can you work on your weaknesses? Group research: what are soft skills and hard skills? Why are they important? Create a short poster with examples

Job hunting

Create a CV

Writing and designing: - Choose one of the job offers made by your group. - Using your previously acquired information on soft and hard skills and your analysis of strengths and weaknesses, create a CV with a Canva Template to apply for that job. Include info as shown here:

Listen to the interview and discuss:- Do you think they are going to hire the applicant? Why/Why not? - Is body language important in an interview? Research in your small groups and make a list of positive and negative behaviour. In the big group turn the list into a body language evaluation rubric.Listen again. In pairs, roleplay the same interview. Now it's your turn: prepare a similar dialogue with a partner for one of your group's job offers. Watch the video for ideas, then rehearse and pay attention to body language!

Prepare for your interview

Job offer example

Read the job offer that appears in your book and answer the following questions:- What kind of job are they offering?- What skills or qualification do you think you might need to apply for the job? - Would you apply?
