What is Business Software?

Business software, or business application, is a computer program designed to carry out specific business activities. They help companies automate and optimize their processes, improve efficiency and productivity, and make better decisions.

  • Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM): A manufacturing system in which the computer controls machinery and helps reduce labor costs.
  • Computer Integrated Machinery (CIM): A system in which the computer controls the entire production line with the use of robots to perform routine or dangerous tasks.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD): A software application used to generate 3D models and drawings, that reduce the need to produce physical models, or prototypes, for testing under certain conditions.

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Integrates all of an organization's data and processes into one database. The ERP system manages a company's production, logistics, distribution, inventory, shipping, billing, and accounting.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): is a large database that allows you to organize, automate and synchronize various business processes.
  • Supply Chain Management System (SCM): is software that coordinates all procurement activities, from supplier data to the delivery of products to customers. The system helps support and maintain a high degree of communication between customer and supplier.

Coding of goods and marketing application

To encode goods are used tools such as barcodes and radio frequency identification systems (RFID). While the most used marketing applications are QR codes, which allow, once scanned with a smartphone or tablet, to establish a connection with the company website. The two most well-known applications for providing services are:

  • Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS): An application that allows payment with credit and debit cards in stores.
  • Automated Teller Machine (ATM): Allows you to deposit or withdraw cash.

What is E-learning?

E-learning is a general term that describes the use of computers and other electronic devices for education or training. It can include anything from traditional classrooms that incorporate basic technology, such as using interactive whiteboards, to online courses and distance learning.

  • Computer Based Training (CBT): Students learn using special training programs both online and offline.
  • Web Based Training (WBT): The material is made available on the Internet through a virtual learning environment.
  • Blended learning: A mix of in-person classroom attendance and online training.

The importance of Learning Management System

An important component of e-learning is the Learning Management System (LMS). An LMS is a software application or web-based application that helps instructors and administrators plan, implement, and assess a specific learning process. In simpler terms, it's a platform that e-learning runs on. There are a number of popular open-source LMS options available, such as Moodle and Edmodo. Open source LMS options are a great choice for organizations that are looking for a cost-effective and flexible LMS solution.
