Climate Change

RUS

Japan has been experiencing devasting effects of climate change for some time now. It has impacted their weather, oceans, coasts, clean water source, agriculture, forests, urban communities, the health of their people, energy systems, and their economy. Thankfully, the country has recently declared their goal of carbon nuetrality by 2050 with their Green Growth Strategy, carbon reducing innovations in fields like hydrogen and carbon recycling.

Climate Crisis in Japan

Back in 2018 when Japan peaked at an unbearable 41 degrees Celsius, a staggering 30,000 people were hospitalized while at least 80 others lost their lives due to the impending heat. Also, surface sea temperatures trigger a sharp rise in ocean acidification and this reduces the potential to catch fish. Moreover, rising sea levels could result in 4 million people exposed to devasting floods. Also, droughts and floods alike will put a strain on Japan's water sources and in turn affecting the agriculture production. With carbon levels remaining high, forestry will become damaged and this affects not just Japan's tourism, but their wildlife as well. Lastly, increasing heat waves will worsen air quality and harm residents health.

Climate Crisis in China

China has been warming by an average of 0.26C per decade since the 1950s. The country is also experiencing the risk of sea level rise. Currently more than 650 million people reside in China's coastal cities, some of which are in low elevation areas. There are also flooding, tropical cyclones, and extreme heatwaves that have resulted in heavy burdens for the residents of China. The flooding alone has impacted over 30 million people and caused a direct economic loss of 128.9 billion CNY in 2022 alone. These are not the only climate issues they are experiencing, but these are most notable. Also, this not only affects China as a country but the rest of the world too. This is due to the fact that China is an economic power and if they experience devasting changes then every partner country will reap the effects.
