The State of Florida passed the Energy and Cliamte Change Action Plan in 2008. This will work to reduce carbon emission and its impacts on society as a whole.
What is the impact of climate change in Florida?
The Statewide Flooding and Sea-Level Rise Resilience Plan was passed in 2021. This plan approved 76 projects that will help to protect natural sea level defences such as coastlines, shores, coral reefs, and waterways.
With a rise in global temperatures, Florida has seen storms increase by 27 percent since 1958. This has increased the risk of inland flooding especially in south florida.
The Everglades is a unique ecosystem that exist only in Florida. It sits less than three feet above sea level, so if sea levels rise any further the Everglades freshwater ecosystem will be in danger!
