  • In a breakout room, quickly plan a realistic dialogue.

Cue Card 1: Checking Into a Hotel Scenario: 2 Guests: You have arrived at a hotel. You need to check in. You have two single rooms booked. It's late, you are tired. Receptionist: It's your first day. You are on the desk alone. You can't find the booking on the system Functional language: Provide your identification Ask about the WiFi password Find out about breakfast and the checkout time.

Cue Card 2: Ordering Food at a Restaurant Scenario: 2 Guests: You stop somewhere to order food. You are both hungry. You have some dietary requirements. Waiter: It's very busy. Some of the items on the menu are not available. Functional Language: Provide your order Ask about the special dish Discuss dietary options.

Cue Card 3: Asking for Help in a Supermarket Scenario: Customer: You are looking for a few different items in a supermarket. They are very specific. Assistant: Help the customer even if you are not 100% where everything is. Functional Language Ask questions and give information about location. Suggest alternatives.

Friend 2: You want a nice place where you can relax between visits. Friend 3: You don't mind where you stay. Functional Language: Agreeing and disagreeing Compromise

Cue Card 7:Asking for Directions Scenario: Tourist: You are lost in a new city and need directions. You don't have a phone with you. Local: You are in a bit of a rush. Help the tourist if you can. Functional Language: Ask and give directions. Speak about the local landmarks.
