Bogota - Southwest Zone - Contamination.

Introduction.

In this presentation i will talk about the contamination on Bogota/ Southwest Zone , the reason of COPD.

Problem.

The main problem of this work, was developed in a previous work, is the pollution in Bogota, especially in the southwest area, which is led by av boyaca, the problem does not have real arguments or sufficient statistics to report it in real time, but there are previous reports that help us to navigate, on the other hand, it is inevitable that we see daily CO2 pollution in the city, causes COPD and other serious respiratory diseases.

What is the probelm?

  • In this place there are countless factorys.
  • The airport.
  • The trucks.
  • And autobuses.

Why this problem exist?

  • Assuming there are 4 hectares of forest on this site, this CO2 would require 16 hectares for decontamination, and the regulations of the Ministry of Health and the city council are just as bad.

Arguments.

  • This project has demonstrated the effectiveness of measures taken during the pandemic to reduce particulates, and the study can be used to show that different measures, such as remote working, can help reduce particulates in different parts of the city and improve air quality.

Economic and social.

  • Bogotá's socio-economic classes are also affected by pollution, but we can also guarantee that low-income people do not have access to the same methods of mitigating the side effects of pollution.

  • In Bogotá, the areas most affected by pollution are those with a high density of vehicles, such as the city center and main transport routes. Industrial zones and areas with inadequate waste management infrastructures can also be affected by high levels of air and water pollution. In addition, suburbs, where low-income communities often live, can be exposed to pollution due to the lack of basic services and environmental regulations.

What citizens thinks?

  • The citizens think this probelm is several, and affect the life situation, and the mayor don't have a good ideas about the solucion and resolution the probelm becasue it's the goverment who needs new politics on the country.

The situation and statistics.

It is estimated that in 2021, 3,400 premature deaths will be due to PM2.5 exposure. On a per capita basis, this mortality rate is comparable to that of smoking, and much higher than that of intentional or unintentional homicide.

in bogota are 41 fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants in 2021

Statistics

Sustainable development objectives

In one of the manuals in the course library we found this text on how to ensure healthy living and promote wellness for all ages, although it does not specifically talk about pollution, which is the main topic of my presentation, but how to implement a plan to maintain healthy living and wellness.

Solutions.

  • A possible solution is to create a new program about the contamination, how Bogota mayor and government can implement a program to change the old cars, establish a timetable for the transit of these cars, change the location of the factories in the land use plan, and promote good practices and non-polluting vehicles.

Arguments.

  • As a possible solution I found a degree work on anti-pollution whereabouts. An industrial design student at UAN University, he creates opportunities for CO2 management through bus stops, providing information on the different buses and the amount of pollution that has a greater impact in certain areas of Bogotá, and how innovative design can help reduce CO2 in this project, presenting arguments with concrete and clear statistics on pollution and improvement options. http://repositorio.uan.edu.co/bitstream/123456789/8713/1/2018_Julio%20Cesar%20Delgado%20Robles.pdf

Conclusions.

It is worth noting that pollution in Bogotá has always been a public health problem that affects us all. Although the city has air quality control equipment, new measures are needed, both in the short and long term, to create a pleasant environment for the city's inhabitants.
