Activity #9

  • Create a code message to send in your Voyager
  • Use Canva to create your code and message.
  • Create a Canva to add this material and to present your final product.
  • Use one or two of the structures learned:

-Present Perfect -Present Perfect Progressive -Zero and/ or First Conditional).

Activity #7
  • Interview other teachers about what they know about the Voyager.
  • Carry out your interview based on the questions given by the teacher and add two more questions of yours.
  • Represent your findings in a graphic using a Canva presentation.
  • The Canva presentation will be added as a QR code to your model.
Acitivity #8: Create a Song
  • Read again "Voyage of Discover" on pages 54-55 (Student Book)
  • Create a song about human civilization by creating a new and digital version of the “Golden Record.”
  • Record an audio material using Suno.com to send a message of peace and friendship to other possible civilizations and include it to your Golden Record.
  • Add the link of your song to the final presentation.
  • Include the 3 sentences using the following grammatical structures to your song:
Activity #4: Personal Journal
  • Write on your personal journey your process so far.
  • After each activity and each aspect learned, reflect on your learning process (there must be only 3 entries).
  • Your entries should reflect about:
-What did I learn today?
  • Use the following structures:
-Present Perfect -Present Perfect Progressive Upload your journal in Classroom "Activity #4: Journal" by sharing the link.
Activity #10: Create a Model
  • Create a model of a “Voyager 3” using recycling material.
  • Base on the reading from activity #1 "The Voyager Spacecraft: Exploring the Universe", explain how your new spacecraft will work.
  • Include a space on the outside of the spacecraft to add a QR code that contains your final presentation (Canva, PowerPoint or Google Slides).
Activity #1
  • Read "The Voyager Spacecraft:Exploring the Universe"
  • Create a digital poster about the Voyager and include:
-Objective of the Voyager - Pictures (2 at least) - How does it work and when was it launch.
  • Choose 12 new words from the reading and create a mini dictionary with the word, its definition and one sentence using the word.
  • Upload in Classroom "Activity #1"
Activity #2
  • Create a digital summary of "The Voyager Spacecraft: Exploring the Universe"
  • Mention the main idea and 3 details of the reading.
  • Describe the importance of the Voyager for Human Civilization.
  • Upload in Classroom "Activity #2"

Activity #11

Debate
  • Each base group will have 5 minutes to present their ideas. Two base groups will debate at the same time, while the other 4 are "expectators." Each member must participate at least twice in the debate.
  • Use facts and opinions to support ideas in favor and against space exploration.
  • Prepare a surprise question for the groups debating and be ready to answer a question when your group is debating.
  • Prepare your debate following the topics given by the teacher to be discussed.
  • Use the vocabulary learned and the grammatical structures studied.

Aspects to be discussed in the debate:- In favor/againts of sending both human and robotic missions to space -In favor/against of only sending robotic missions to space -Not in favor/against of space exploration

  • Predictions: listen to the following audio material and predict what may happen to the Voyager 47 years in the future.
  • Create a short Canva or Power Point presentation stating 3 predictions using First Conditional.
  • Upload your presentation in Classroom "Activity 6"

Give Feedback
  • Go to Classroom "Activity #2"
  • Give Feedback to two of your classmates by writing a comment about their poster.
  • Write your feedback in Padlet (see example below).
  • Use opinions and/or facts to state your ideas.
  • You must use Present Perfect Progressive, Zero and/or First Conditional to state your ideas.

Time to be artists!
  • Paint and draw the model of the "Voyager 3" by writing on the outside words which meaning might be unknown for other civilizations and adding drawing/paints of important places of Earth.
  • Write at least 3 words that might represent your culture/identity as Costarican and that might need an "outsider" to ask for repetition/search for meaning in other words to understand them.

  • Watch the video.
  • In your notebook, work on the thinking routine What you Know, What you Wonder, and What you Learn according to the information presented in the video.
  • Paste the worksheet in your notebook and adnswer: did you know there is a Voyager 2?
