Hydroponics History

The history of hydroponics dates back to ancient civilizations like the Babylonians and Aztecs, who used techniques similar to hydroponics to grow plants without soil. In the 17th century, Sir Francis Bacon conducted experiments on plant nutrition without soil. However, the term "hydroponics" was coined in the 20th century by Dr. William Frederick Gericke, who conducted research on soilless plant cultivation at the University of California, Berkeley. Since then, hydroponics has evolved into a popular method of cultivation for a variety of plants, offering efficient use of resources and precise control over growing conditions.

SUITABLE PLANTS

In hydroponic systems, a wide variety of plants can be grown, including leafy greens like lettuce, herbs such as basil and mint, fruits like strawberries and tomatoes, and flowering plants like orchids and roses. Essentially, most plants that would traditionally grow in soil can be successfully cultivated in hydroponic setups. This versatility makes hydroponics a popular choice for growers looking to maximize space, resources, and yield while maintaining precise control over plant nutrition and growth conditions.

How they work?

In hydroponic cultivation, water replaces soil. When the roots are suspended in moving water, they quickly absorb both nutrients and oxygen. They have a pump that absorbs the water and sends it up, reaches the top and cascades down, encountering tubes that lead to pierced glasses in which it enters and then exits back into the pot.

Requirements

A good supply of eletricity.

How do i start a hydroponic tower?

Requirements:

Avaible maintenaince during the month.

To start a Hydroponic tower cultivation you firstly need the tower, then step by step you need to fill the container with water, put the plants in their spots, mix the water with fertilizer, put a timer and turn on the tower..

Liquid based nutrients.

The plants you'd like to plant.

Disvantages

Advantages

With hidroponic tower coltivations you just need a little space to begin, since the plants are placed on top of each others. Plants are less likely to get ill and not much water is needed.

Hidroponic towers have disvantages too, they need more manutention and more knowledge of plants to be used. Adding electric expences to it can be pricy.

What are they used for?

Hydroponic towers allow plants to grow up without soil.

The towers use a drip irrigation system to deliver nutrients and water to plants in a precise and controlled way. Their modular structure allows them to adapt theirselves to the specific needs of the cultivation, both in terms of size and number of plants.
