Nowadays, some people think that professional sports player such as footballers have salaries that they do not deserve. However, I think their salaries are quite reasonable. First of all, professional sportspeople have to train very hard and dedicate a great amount of time to be in shape for their competitions. In addition, they have to follow strict diets that may interfere with their social life. These athletes also tend to have a short working life compared to any other worker, since many have to retire in their thirties and cannot practice sports professionally when they are, for example, 60 years old. However, other workers like teachers, policemen or shop assistants can continue working for a long time. For this reason, I think athletes have to get paid more, so they can save money for their retirement. As a conclusion, although professional sportspeople's salaries are high, I believe they are well-deserved because they have to sacrifice a lot and they normally do not have long careers.
